McCABE, PATRICK
'The Butcher Boy'
rating: 1111111110 readability: 1111111110

In 'The Butcher Boy', McCabe, one of Ireland's most distinguished maniacs, pulls off the difficult task of creating a character who is psychopathic, hilarious, believable, and who powerfully engaged my sympathy in spite of the brutal crimes he commits.

I loved Neil Jordan's film adaptation of the book; not everyone does, though.
