This book, in spite of its silly (or tongue-in-cheek?) title, is a very well-presented account by the main discoverer of what now appears to be the reason for the demise of the dinosaurs. The detective work which led to the discovery is very interesting; the best part, however, is the description of the impact itself - an event about which I have written elsewhere on this site, and which was of incredible destructive power. Evolution is not Mr. Alvarez's area of expertise, so perhaps he was wise not to speculate (as I have done) overmuch about the repercussions which the comet or meteor impact had on the subsequent evolution of life. Taken on its own terms, this is a fascinating, undemanding, and engaging read. Click
